ALOR SETAR, Oct 12 — The Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) through the 2nd Border Regiment seized 470 kilogrammes of ketum leaves worth RM44,650 that were believed to be smuggled  to Thailand on Tuesday.

Sixth Brigade Commander Brig Gen Abdul Aziz Ismail said the raid involving a team comprising four ATM personnel and an officer was carried out at the Gubir operation area, Pos Lampara at 5.25pm.

“The team on patrol intercepted a four-wheel drive vehicle and two motorcycles and found 47 sacks of ketum leaves. Six individuals fled the scene and left the vehicles after realising the presence of the soldiers,” he said in a statement yesterday.
