GEORGE TOWN: A five-year-old boy who was left alone at home survived a fall from the window of his fifth-floor flat in Relau here Friday.
George Town deputy OCPD Supt Izwan Abd Karim said the boy is in critical condition but is reported to be stable.
He said the incident happened at around 1.35pm on Friday.
“According to preliminary investigations, the boy was alone at home when his mother was out picking up his sibling from kindergarten.
“He is believed to have climbed out of a window before falling to the ground floor,” Supt Izwan said in a statement on Friday.
He said the boy’s mother believed that the victim, who is hyperactive, tried to push a bicycle out of the window.
“The bicycle got stuck outside and that was when the boy climbed up the window frame, lost his balance and fell,” he said.
Supt Izwan said the boy was rushed to Penang Hospital and is currently receiving treatment at its intensive care unit.
