LOS ANGELES, Oct 30 — Kevin Spacey has come out as gay after an actor alleged that the star hit on him when he was 14.
Star Trek: Discovery star Anthony Rapp in an interview with Buzzfeed revealed that Spacey made at pass at him when he was a minor in 1986. Spacey and Rapp were both in Broadway shows at the time and Rapp was invited to a party at Spacey’s apartment.
At the party, Rapp says he found he was the only non-adult around and decided to spend the evening watching TV in one of the bedrooms. Rapp alleges that Spacey appeared in the room visibly drunk as the party ended and moved towards him.
“He picked me up like a groom picks up the bride over the threshold. But I don’t, like, squirm away initially, because I’m like, ‘What’s going on?’ And then he lays down on top of me.
“He was trying to seduce me. I don’t know if I would have used that language. But I was aware that he was trying to get with me sexually.”
Rapp alleges that he was able to push Spacey off before fleeing the apartment.
Spacey took to Twitter to respond with a dramatic statement saying he was “beyond horrified” of the allegations and that he would like to “address other things about my life”.
“As those closest to me know, in my life I have had relationships with both men and women. I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I choose now to live as a gay man. I want to deal with this openly and honestly and that starts with examining my own behaviour.”
