Lanthimos characters aren’t aware of their absurdities, says Colin Farrell (VIDEO)
LOS ANGELES, Oct 31 — Yorgos Lanthimos’ films make an impact because “the characters aren’t aware of their absurdities”, star Colin Farrell tells Reuters.
Even though there are “a collection of extraordinarily unusual or absurd events or interactions, relationships, human beings that existent within Yorgos’ films”, says Farrell, nothing is played for “shock or sensationalist value”.
It is the beauty of the “very terse” and “clinical” language from the Greek filmmaker that the actor really admires.
New psychological horror The Killing a Sacred Deer sees Farrell reunited with Lanthimos, after working together on The Lobster in 2015, itself an unusual mix of sci-fi, romantic comedy and drama.
The Killing of a Sacred Deer is released this Friday (November 3) in the UK. — Reuters
