GEORGE TOWN, Nov 2 ― Three men took less than two minutes to escape with jewellery worth RM15,000 from a goldsmith store at Lebuh Buckingham, here today.
Timur Laut district police chief ACP Anuar Omar said in the 11.30am incident, one of the men entered the shop and punched a worker in the face.
“After hitting the worker, the trio who arrived in two motorcycles ordered three workers who were in the store to place the jewellery items into a bag before fleeing,” he said here today.
He said police were now studying the closed-circuit television (CCTV) recordings around the premises as the store was not equipped with a CCTV.
Meanwhile, Seberang Perai Tengah district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said police have arrested five men aged between 34 and 58 years old in a raid on a hut in Kampung Janggus, Bukit Mertajam yesterday on suspicion of being involved in the sale of ketum juice.
He said in the 8pm raid police also seized 40 packets believed to contain ketum juice worth RM400 and various processing equipment in the hut which had been used to process and pack the juice. ― Bernama
