LONDON, Nov 2 — HBO’s fantasy drama Game of Thrones is reaching its eighth and final season and one of its stars Maisie Williams has said that she “can’t wait to be free” of it.
However, before anyone accuses her of biting the hand that feeds her, the 20-year-old actress who has played Arya Stark since she was 14 added it’s because she wants to spend more time making indie films.
She was quoted as saying to the BBC that the thought of not being in the series is “nerve wracking” but added that she “misses” making independent films and that’s “the only place I’ve ever really wanted to be to be honest.”
“I’m really excited for Game of Thrones to finish and there’s going to be time for me to do whatever I want,” she said.
“That’s just incredibly exciting and it will be nice to pick roles that I want to do.
“I can show the world what sort of actress I want to be and shape my career a little bit.”
Nonetheless, Williams’ return to the indie world will have to wait as she has yet to begin filming season eight of Game of Thrones.
She will also be appearing in next year’s X-Men: The New Mutants slated for release in April.
