KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 2 — Have you ever regretted sending a message on WhatsApp and wishing you could undo your action? Well, now you can, but only if you’re fast enough.
Popular messaging app WhatsApp has just introduced a new feature that lets users to delete sent messages but they only have seven minutes after the message has been sent to do so.
After that seven-minute period, there’s no turning back.
With this new feature, messages sent to an individual or a group can be deleted.
According to the WhatsApp website, if you have deleted a sent message in a group chat, the other members in your group will see ‘You deleted this message’ in place of the message.
The feature is already available in Malaysia but only for users who have installed the latest update. However, both send and recipient have to be on the latest version in order for the feature to work.
Here are the steps to delete a sent message on WhatsApp:
1 Open WhatsApp and click on the chat with the message you want to delete.
2 Tap and hold the message. You can also tap more messages to delete multiple messages simultaneously.
3 Choose Delete > Delete for Everyone.
But remember, you have to be quick enough. And if the message has already been read, well, there’s no undoing that. So, think carefully before you actually send a message you might regret later.
