KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 5 — The driver of an express bus and 26 passengers were injured when the bus they were travelling in overturned at Km 434.9 northbound PLUS Highway in Rawang early today.
Selangor Fire and Rescue (Operation) assistant director Mohd Sani Harul said in the 4.50 am incident, the bus, which was heading to Kuala Lumpur, was believed to have hit the road divider and skidded before it overturned and entered the opposite lane.
“We immediately deploy 21 personnel from the Kuala Kubu Bharu and Rawang Fire and Rescue Stations to the scene as soon as we received a call about the incident,” he said when contacted by Bernama here today.
He said all the victims were sent to the Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile Hulu Selangor District Police chief Supt Lim Bak Phai said initial investigation revealed that four passengers sustained serious head injuries while the bus driver was injured on the face.
“The actual number of bus passengers travelling from Sungai Petani to Kuala Lumpur and onwards to Temerloh have yet to be ascertained and further probe is being carried out,” he said.
Lim said the police would conduct urine and blood screening om the bus driver and his assistant to facilitate investigation. — Bernama
