BUTTERWORTH, Nov 6 — The Social Welfare Department (JKM), the Penang State Secretary’s Office (SUK) and the District and Land Office, are required to give the number of flood victims at relief centres.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said the information is needed to facilitate the distribution of aid to the flood victims.
“If they (District, SUK Offices) can give the number by midnight, we can deliver the aid tomorrow morning. Our focus is on those at relief but for those who do not move out, we can deliver food,” he told a news conference, here today.
The National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) would assist all flood victims within one week provided the district and SUK offices could give the number of victims involved.
There were 7,498 flood victims from 1,728 families at 61 relief centres in five districts in Penang. — Bernama
