KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 — Football club Johor Darul Ta’zim FC (JDT) announced today it will donate its prize money from the recent Malaysia Cup victory to the flood victims in ravaged Penang.
The decision was announced by club president Tunku Tun Aminah Ibrahim following a decree by Johor crown prince Tunku Ismail Ibrahim, who is her brother.
“We have provided aid to state governments over the years and JDT will continue to do the same.
“JDT FC and its players have decided to give our Malaysia Cup prize money to the flood victims in Penang,” Tun Aminah said, but did not disclose the amount of winnings.
On Saturday night, JDT defeated Kedah 2-0 with goals netted by Mohamad Aidil Zafuan Abdul Razak at the third minute and Gonzalo Gabriel Cabrera at the 63rd minute.
The state celebrated a public holiday on Sunday in commemoration of the victory.
