Ismail Sokri, 68, who is still holding a plastic identity card said a group of employees from the department came to his house to renewed his old identity card which he has been holding since he was paralysed as a teenager in an accident.

“Alhamdulillah, my wish to change my old identity card with MyKad was realised when they came to the house,” he said when met by reporters at his house in Kampung Selabak here today.           

Before this, Ismail received a visit from several NRD personnel and Changkat Jong assemblyman Datuk Mohd Azhar Jamaluddin.

Ismail who was paralysed below the waist after an accident about 43 years ago, and was under the care of his sister Maijun, 74, also said several official matters including applications for assistance were hampered because he did not have a MyKad. — Bernama
