LOS ANGELES, Nov 8 — Ohio rapper Machine Gun Kelly will be expanding his acting resumé with a part opposite hugely acclaimed actresses Sandra Bullock and Sarah Paulson in post-apocalyptic thriller Bird Box.
Danish director Susanne Bier won an Emmy for crime drama The Night Manager; Sarah Paulson collected a Golden Globe for her performance in The People v OJ Simpson; and Sandra Bullock was awarded with an Oscar for leading The Blind Side. Together, the three are among the most high-profile participants in Bird Box, an adaptation of Josh Malerman’s 2014 chilling debut novel which follows a mother and two children as they set off in search of refuge from a terrible blight.
Colson Baker, widely known as Machine Gun Kelly, was named MTV Europe’s breakthrough US artist following the release of first album Lace Up in 2012, and has been steadily building up an actor’s resumé as well as releasing two further studio albums since.
His debut film performance was in 2014 pop industry romantic drama Beyond the Lights, and parts in the Emma Roberts and Dave Franco thriller Nerve, sci-fi horror Viral, and 2018 alien invasion movie Captive State have followed.
Among those previously added to the cast of Bird Box are Rosa Salazar (Maze Runner franchise), John Malkovich (Being John Malkovich), Trevante Rhodes (Westworld), Danielle Macdonald (Patti Cake$) and LilRey Howrey (Get Out).
Eric Heisserer, who was Oscar nominated for Arrival, adapted Bird Box for the screen. — AFP-Relaxnews
