KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 12 — National elite women kegler Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman managed to claim the silver medal in the final at the 53rd Qubica AMF Bowling World Cup held at the Bowl 300 in Hermosillo, Mexico, on Saturday (Sunday in Malaysia).
The 26-year-old from Selangor, however, put up a solid performance against Krizziah Lyn Tabora of the Philippines before losing 191-236, according to the tournament website; www.qubicaamf.com.
Earlier, Siti Safiyah pulled off a major surprise by stunning defending champion, Jenny Wegner of Sweden, winning 227-197 while Krizziah defeated the World Games champion, Rocio Restrepo of Colombia, 249-222 in another last four encounter.
The feat was an improvement for Siti Safiyah who finished third at the 2009 edition when it was held in Melaka.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Muaz Mohd Fishol failed to make the final after losing 176-266 to eventual winner Jakob Butturff of the United States in the semi-finals of the men’s category.
Butturff won the title by defeating Oscar Rodriguez of Colombia, 246-201 in the final.
Earlier, Oscar advanced to the final after edging Ildemaro Ruiz Junior of Venezuela, 232-193. — Bernama
