The brainchild of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, the high-tech exhibition seeks to provide an interactive experience to visitors of all ages through state-of-the-art digital displays within five giant geodesic domes that have been set up on the historic square.

Each of the five domes features a different theme that also represents a principle of the Rukun Negara that will enable visitors to learn about the concept and get a behind-the-scenes view of the different projects being undertaken now as well as those planned for the future.

There are exhibits where visitors can experience what it is like to drive a bus, or even direct air traffic control at the airport. At another exhibit, visitors can take a virtual train ride around the country and get a glimpse at the cities of tomorrow.

In one dome featuring the telecommunications industry, lucky visitors may even get the chance to speak directly with the country’s top leaders, including the prime minister, who will be making “live” calls at random; all they need do is pick up one of the 20 telephone sets that ring.Visitors who answer a ringing phone may find themselves talking to the prime minister who will be making random live calls.Visitors who answer a ringing phone may find themselves talking to the prime minister who will be making random live calls.

But the fun is not limited to indoors. Futsal courts and a go-kart arena has also been set up outside the domes.

And with the expo open from 10am to 10pm daily, visitors who stay for the evening programmes will also be treated to light displays projected onto the ceiling of the domes. Food trucks offering a variety of dishes will also be set up on site.Test your pedal power to generate enough electricity to power up a household electrical appliance at the Expo Negaraku 2017.Test your pedal power to generate enough electricity to power up a household electrical appliance at the Expo Negaraku 2017.

During the one-month duration of the expo, the section of Jalan Raja between Dataran Merdeka and the Sultan Abdul Samad building will be closed to motor traffic, allowing pedestrians to also visit the River of Life project, located at Masjid Jamek.

An estimated 500,000 people are expected to attend the expo, the first infrastructure exhibition of such a large scale in the country. Entry is free of charge.

The first 100 visitors to the Expo Negaraku 2017 will also each receive a special goodie bag.

Visitors to the opening ceremony tomorrow evening will also be treated to a free concert featuring local stars such as Faizal Tahir, Rich from Estranged, and Ismail Izzadi.

The Expo Negaraku 2017 is a collaboration by the Economic Planning Unit with the Transport Ministry; Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Ministry; Telekom Malaysia; National Film Development Corporation; and Kuala Lumpur City Hall.
