Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said of the 1.5 million he had interacted with either face to face or online since this January, 60,000 youth aspirations have been collected thus far.

“In addition, another 20,000 aspirations have been collected from the non-youth segment of Malaysians,” he said during the meet-and-greet event of Prasarana Berhad’s TN50 youth ambassadors yesterday.

Khairy said he will present the youth aspirations report to the government by January, with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to announce the TN50 final policy document on Malaysia Day next year.

At the event, he praised the ambassadors’ aspirations, stating he would likely include them in his report to the government.

“Most interesting is the aspiration for Malaysian public transportation to reach global standards. I myself hope for the KL city centre to become a zero-emission zone by 2050.

“Likewise, the aspiration to go ticketless for public transportation is also a very real possibility, with technologies such as the recently-launched iPhone X with its facial, retinal and thumbprint identification features,” he said.

As part of Prasarana’s contribution towards realising TN50, group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Azmi Abdul Aziz said two double-decker buses, 42 single-floor buses and two four-coach LRT trains along the Kelana Jaya Line would be decorated in its themes.

“This has been one of many collaborations with the ministry, the most recent being a part of the Green Initiatives implemented during the KL2017 SEA Games. We can only be thankful for being able to participate in the historic TN50 initiative,” he said.
