IPOH, Dec 6 — A three-vehicle accident at KM294.7 North-South Expressway (PLUS) northbound near the Gopeng City Transformation Centre today claimed the life of a woman, who was one of the passengers in the express bus involved.
Chan Kwai Fah, 43, from Taman Desa Cempaka here, was confirmed dead about 8.11 am today while receiving treatment at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB).
Kampar district police chief Supt Ng Kong Soon said the incident which happened at 5.45am also involved a lorry container and a trailer truck.
The bus driver and 12 other passengers as well as the trailer truck driver sustained minor injuries while the container lorry driver was seriously injured and remained unconscious at HRPB,” he said in a statement here.
Ng said based on the preliminary investigation, the express bus was heading to Ipoh from Kuala Lumpur.
“Initial investigations revealed, the express bus hit the back of the trailer truck before being bumped from behind by the container lorry which couldn’t stop in time,” he said.
Ng said the vehicles were taken to the Gopeng Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centre (Puspakom) for further inspection.
He said the 41-year-old express bus driver was detained to assist in the case being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987. — Bernama
