BUKIT MERTAJAM: Women could prove to be the decisive factor and an arising voice in the country, according to PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar.
She said women nowadays have the power to stand shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts in society.
She said females want their children to have a better future, to have better health care, educational system and a prosperous and united country.
“We want women to be a decisive voice against kleptocracy and corrupt practices,” she said after attending forum on women in politics at the Mydin hypermarket in Jalan Baru, Bukit Mertajam on today.
On speculation by a vernacular daily on her contesting in PKR’s stronghold Permatang Pauh parlimentary seat, Nurul beamingly said she will adhere to party’s leadership.
“I am a ‘soldier’ and it all depends on the party,” she said.
On the criticism by certain quarters on new the Pakatan Harapan (PH) line up comprised of mostly old faces, Nurul remained adamant that it was a collective effort by the pact to battle against BN.
She said, reform for the sake of the rakyat should be taken into account rather than harping on the issue.
“It is important for us to understand the current political situation,” she said.
“Priority remains on people’s well-being no matter what forces the party is working with.”
