PETALING JAYA: An abandoned poodle is among the dogs that will be put up for adoption at canine welfare project Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better’s  (MDDB) adoption drive on Sunday (Sept 17).

The poodle was found dumped in a box at SS2 here last week by a resident.

“We just don’t understand how people can easily dump their pets on the streets,” said MDDB adoption coordinator Christine Lai.

Those who want to adopt the poodle should go to the drive at Jaya One, Jalan 13/6, between 11am and 6pm.

The adoption drive will be held at the space near the Block NB1 car park behind the Old Town White Coffee and Nandos outlets.

“We will also be bringing six more puppies to the adoption drive and hope they too will be adopted,” said Lai.

Lai added that MDDB still had many puppies remaining with it as adoptions were slow over the last two months.

“They’ll soon be young dogs and we will be facing the problems of space constraints,” said Lai.

According to Lai, it was because of space constraints that MDDB was building a canine sanctuary in Rawang.

Unfortunately, the construction is going on slow due to a lack of funds.

“Just like adoptions, donations are also slow and we are hoping some corporate companies will come forward to help us,” said Lai.
