PETALING JAYA: Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Pribumi) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (pic) appears unimpressed and dismissive in a video reacting to Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib’s return to Umno.
On Sunday evening, Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced at a press conference that former Selangor mentri besar Muhammad, better known as Mat Taib, has rejoined Umno.
“Why does Najib and Zahid (Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi) think that Mat Taib’s return is a big and special event that they have a press conference about it,” said Dr Mahathir in a video.
“It is true that Datuk Seri Najib sees it as his gang is reunited. This is his gang,” he said.
Dr Mahathir remarked that he is “very happy” to hear news of Muhammad’s “jump” back to Umno.
Muhammad left Umno in 2013 to join PAS, he later left PAS and joined PKR in 2015.
Dr Mahathir said that during Muhammad’s time in PKR, he had pledged his support towards Pribumi.
He also recalled Muhammad’s infamous scandal when he was charged in Brisbane for trying to take undeclared currency worth millions of ringgit out of Australia.
He was acquitted of the charges in May 1998.
