ROMPIN, Oct 30 — A man was detained for allegedly shooting his girlfriend’s husband, believed to stop him from taking the woman back to Indonesia.
Rompin district police chief DSP Azli Mohd Noor said the victim, identified as Indonesian national Zubir, 32 , was shot at his workplace, a carwash shop, in Felda Keratong 2 here at midnight last Oct 24.
The victim was shot with a home-made shotgun and died during treatment at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA), Kuantan, at 12.30pm last Wednesday (Oct 25), he told a media conference here today.
He said the suspect was arrested at the Tanjung Malim Rest and Recreation (R&R) Area at 12.30am last Friday, believed on his way to return to his village in Bedong, Kedah.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim’ and his wife had marital problems and the latter began having an affair with the suspect since four months ago.
“The victim got to know about the affair and persuaded the wife to return to Acheh to restore their relations,” he said.
Azli said police also detained the victim’s wife, 32, and two other men, aged 48 and 32, to facilitate investigation.
“Investigation conducted on the 32-year-old suspect lead to the finding of the weapon, believed to have be used to shoot the victim, at Ladang Sungai Guan, Kota Bahagia here,” he said, adding that the police also seized several items, including three bullets, a spent shell and screwdriver. — Bernama
