ALOR SETAR, Nov 1 — The normally quiet village of Kampung Seberang Kota in Kuala Kedah about 12km from here was bustling with activities today when it received the visit of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
The number one national leader was overwhelmed by the huge turnout of people upon his arrival at about 9.30am accompanied by Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah.
Apart from having breakfast with the villagers, Najib also took the opportunity to discuss development taking place in the area.
Najib also visited the fishermen’s market in the village which is one of most popular marine produce landing and retailing destinations in the state.
The Prime Minister’s programme in Kedah today also involved a closed-door meeting with the state leadership at Wisma Darul Aman and a gathering with civil servants at Sultan Abdul Halim Stadium in Suka Menanti.
He will also receive a courtesy call by Arab Saudi Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Khalid Abdul Aziz Al-Faleh at a leading hotel here apart from visiting Syarikat Air Darul Aman (SADA) water treatment plant in Pokok Sena here.
The tight programme of the Prime Minister also included a visit to the house of Mansor Salleh, a local resident at Kampung Belukar in Jabi before attending a programme with the people in conjunction with the presentation of monsoon season assistance to smallholders at Dataran KEDA.
Tonight Najib will be meeting state Barisan Nasional leaders at a hotel here before departing for Kuala Lumpur. — Bernama
