ALOR SETAR, Nov 6 — The number of flood victims placed at relief centres in Kedah tonight is 2,337, down from 2,616 people recorded this afternoon.
State Civil Defence Force director Lt Col (PA) Mohd Zul Khairi Shamsuddin said the number was expected to further decrease tomorrow as weather conditions improved.
As at 8pm, 616 families were placed at 21 relief centres, compared to 686 families housed at 24 relief centres in Kuala Muda, Yan, Kulim, Baling and Pendang before this.
In Kuala Muda, nine relief centres were still open, namely at the Kampung Bukit Belah Batu Dua Hall (19 victims), Taman Bedong Jaya Hall (72), the Taman Malinja surau (50), Kampung Bujang surau (86), Kampung Sungai Pial Hall (174), Kampung Jilid 4/5 surau (70), Taman Setia Budi Hall (61) and Kampung Lebai Ali surau (298) .
In Kulim, eight relief centres were open, namely SK Taman Selasih (46), Surau Al-Haq (30), SK Permatang Tok Dik (563), Surau Al-Ikhlas Karangan (231), SK Sungai Karangan (30) , Selarong Panjang Mosque (28), Kampung Baru Jemerli surau (20), and SK Merbau Pulas (88).
Meanwhile, one relief centre was open each in Yan at the Kampung Kepala Bukit surau (75); Baling at the Kuala Bakong Mosque (114); Pendang at the Seminar Hall (72); and in Bandar Baharu at SK Selama (30). — Bernama
