SHAH ALAM, Nov 12 — Barisan Nasional (BN) supporters are ready to switch their support to the Opposition coalition if Pakatan Harapan (PH) can fill the “leadership void”, DAP secretary general Lim Guan Eng said today.
“BN supporters are willing to switch their votes, but the question is whether Pakatan Harapan can fill the leadership void and be trusted to steer the economy better for ordinary Malaysians,” he said.
Lim was speaking while opening the DAP special congress here today, where party delegates are set to re-elect the 2012 central executive committee (CEC) after a long-running standoff with the Registrar of Societies (RoS).
Lim also stressed that the dynamic in Umno has changed following former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s decision to quit the party and subsequently be part of the Opposition coalition.
