KOTA KINABALU, Nov 19 — Sabah Women Entrepreneurship Association has lauded the Sabah State Budget 2018 as it shows the State government’s commitment towards uplifting the welfare of women in Sabah.
Its President Datuk Aminah Ambrose said the Budget served to empower women through the various programmes implemented by the government through the Ministry of Community Development and Consumer Affairs (KPMHEP) and the Women’s Affairs Department (JHEWA).
“The Budget is “people centric” covering all segments of society, women included,” she said in a statement today adding that Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman recognised the important role played by women towards the development of the State and nation building.
“The budget offers the best for women, boosting our roles in developing the family institution and entrepreneurship.”
She further commented that through the increased allocation in Micro Credit & Usahawan Desa, women would be empowered to be more entrepreneurial and gain a better footing in businesses.
Aminah who is also Umno Kudat Wanita Chief said the Entrepreneurship Development Programme for single mothers and women living in poverty would be equipped with knowledge and skills that can help improve their livelihood.
“I am happy to note that the State Government has acknowledged that the role of women cannot be overlooked, as they deliver the next generation and future leaders who will shoulder the trust and lead the State into greater success,” she said. — Bernama
