PORT DICKSON, Nov 19 — Negri Sembilan MIC will conduct a special programme to explain government policies and measures to assist the Indian community throughout the state.
Negri Sembilan MIC chairman Datuk L. Manickam said the programme, which is part of preparations for the 14th General Election (GE14), also involved other Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties and is expected to be held next month.
“We will call two grassroots leaders from each state constituencies throughout the state to explain to the voters in their area so that they know what the government has done so far in helping the Indian community,” he said at a press conference at the Let’s Be Healthy Camp and Port Dickson District AIDS Day programme at the Kampung India Community Hall, Bukit Pelandok here, today.
Manickam also said the state MIC’s preparations for GE14 was satisfactory and was confident it would help BN wins the two-thirds majority in the coming election.
Meanwhile, on the health camp and AIDS Day programme, Manickam said the people in the state needed to have health awareness, especially the rural communities.
“The programme that the Health Ministry conducted today is in line with the government’s intention to provide health services in the rural areas as well as awareness of HIV/AIDS. This year only 84 of these cases have been recorded in Negri Sembilan,” he added. — Bernama
