The donation to the Time’s Up legal defence fund will be made in the name of Michelle Williams, Wahlberg’s co-star in the movie, a statement to the New York Times added.

The fund is dedicated to offering support to people who have experienced sexual harassment, abuse or assault in the workplace.

“Over the last few days, my reshoot fee for All the Money in the World has become an important topic of conversation,” Wahlberg said in a statement.

“I 100 per cent support the fight for fair pay and I’m donating the US$1.5 million to the Time’s Up Legal Defence Fund in Michelle Williams’ name.”

Meanwhile, talent agency William Morris Endeavour — which represents both Wahlberg and Williams — said it would be donating US$500,000 to the fund as well.

Following the news of Wahlberg’s donation, LA Times writer Amy Kaufman shared the following tweet of Williams’ reaction:

On Tuesday, USA Today reported that the actor had been paid US$1.5 million to reshoot scenes from the movie.

The newspaper also revealed that co-star Williams was paid less than US$1,000 to reshoot the same scenes.

Director Ridley Scott had decided to replace disgraced actor Kevin Spacey with Christopher Plummer as J. Paul Getty after he was accused of sexual assault by multiple men.

Scott had initially said that the actors all decided to do the work for free.
