PUTRAJAYA (April 6): Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said today the Barisan Nasional needed a strong new mandate in the 14th General Election to allow it to proceed with a more extensive, inclusive and comprehensive transformation for the people and country in driving Malaysia to the pinnacle.

He said the BN government had delivered through numerous achievements and successes, and had proven itself to be capable of delivering, and would continue to deliver.

“If the people choose and give the BN government the mandate to govern for the next five years, InsyaAllah (God willing), we in the top leadership pledge to fulfill more effectively and strive in our obligations to elevate the nation to become one of the 20 most outstanding countries in the world by TN50,” he said.

In a live special address on the dissolution of the 13th Parliament over RTM, Najib promised that he and the other top leaders in BN would ensure that development would flow throughout the country, from Perlis to Sarawak and Sabah, and reach every area and community, “leaving no stone unturned”

“For the sake of our beloved people and country, let’s continue our journey towards greater transformation with BN,” he said.

Najib said he and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as well as other BN top leaders would be going to the masses to enlighten the people on the coalition’s manifesto and road map for the country.

He urged the people to assess the BN government on the basis of its stability and vast experience as well track record of excellence which had been acknowledged internationally.

The prime minister cited the BN government’s ability in maintaining the country’s prevailing peace and security as among its achievements over the last six decades, particularly in the past nine years.

“We have been able to improve the quality of life for the people to be happier and prosperous; in fact we already have a great, structured plan in place for the future.

“On that confidence, I want to underline that over the last half decade, we had not only been able to deliver with various achievements and successes, I dare say that we have delivered and we will continue to deliver,” he said.

Najib said the transformation journey should not cease but continue towards the country’s inclusive transformation for a future that is much brighter, as could already be seen from the shining light of successes.  

“I hope, regardless of our political convictions and symbols, we will conduct this election in an orderly and courteous manner, and smoothly till conclusion,” he said.  

Najib added: “With a humble heart, I request for a new mandate for Barisan Nasional, to lead Malaysia to the pinnacle.”
