KUALA LUMPUR, April 15 — Datuk Seri Najib Razak congratulated Datuk Lee Chong Wei for contributing a gold medal in the men’s single final at the 2018 Commonwealth Games today.
“Great Datuk @LeeChongWei, amazing win! Each swing of the racket has brought along the spirit of 30 milliion Malaysians! Congratulations to Malaysia’s sixth gold at #GC2018,” said the prime minister in his Twitter page.
In the match in Carrara Sports and Leisure Centre, Gold Coast, Chong Wei beat world number one player, K. Srikanth from India 19-21, 21-14, 21-14.
It is the third gold medal for Chong Wei in the Commonwealth Games edition in the men’s single after winning it in 2006 and 2010.
Meanwhile Najib also congratulated the national women’s double, Chow Mei Kuan and Vivian Hoo, who also contributed to the country’s seventh gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
